Lootlicious Day

When I got really bored one day so many months back and spent most of my gold on a battered hilt for my Warlock, she officially became my main character and the rest of my toons just sat around casually doing dungeons and the occasional raid to gear up.

Turby. The hunter. Still remember him and his quest for the Pit of Saron crossbow?

Well, he was very much the loot-whore yesterday being super undergeared but still pulling his weight floating at the mid 5k dps range. Essentially before we needed a third healer, which is Turny the Restless tree, each of the first five encounters dropped a significant upgrade for Turby!

Isn't that gross? An entire dual-wield set of Axes, which both look the same, a new BOW, two rings, one from rep, and a necklace! Gross!! It's still sad how Truny can still do triple Turby's damage output....for now!

Truny's Warlock Tips: Deathbringer Saurfang

Deathbringer Saurfang aka Deathbringer Lootfang is the final boss of the lower spire in Icecrown Citadel.

He does...stuff and the tanks have to do something up on the stairs and throughout the battle he will summon Blood Beasts.

What do we do? Set up a summoning portal near the back of the room just in case. You'll know why. Turn your felguard's cleave off. SPREAD OUT.

Why? This boss is essentially a tank and spank with some adds killing. When the blood beasts spawn, all ranged dps will switch to them. Two spawn in 10-man and four spawn in 25-man. When blood beasts hit anyone, it means bad things so don't get hit. I'm not getting technical or even mentioning what abilities it triggers, just make sure no one gets hit from them, or at least reduce the frequency of them melee'ing anyone. This is why our Felguard's cleave is turned off, in case they catch the attention of a blood beast and starts stacking nasty buffs onto the boss.

This is why we have a summoning stone. Just in case. When the blood beasts spawn, switch your dps to them and once they begin to aggro you or anyone else, send your Felguard onto it, which will trigger the Felguard's "charge", which stuns the beast for three/four seconds (I forget ok). Usually the beast will be downed by now. Then switch back to Saurfang.

The reason we spread out for this fight is because Saurfang has some ability that does damage. (DUH LMAO). Well, the more people stacked together, the more damage it does OBVIOUSLY, and this also buffs the boss. Spread out! These are just tips, not entire raid strategies to down him jeez! I believe it is 12 yards for this fight.

IF the blood beasts still are not dead after being stunned/rooted and are coming towards you then you can use your portal YAY!

Alternative Method: HOWEVER, you can choose to NOT kill the blood beasts and just focus on Saurfang. This way your DPS will be maximized since switching wastes global cooldowns and after the fight you can link your l33t d33ps to emphasize your large penis or sexy breasts.

Truny's Warlock Tips: Gunship Battle

The Gunship Battle, aka Lootship is the third encounter in Icecrown Citadel. Once you get the mechanics of this battle, and have been through say 15 seconds of it is actually really really boring. You will see most groups turn this encounter on to heroic mode just for the better loots. Go figure.

What Do We Do? Wait didn't I do a little guide on this already? Oh well takes me like two minutes to type this anyways. Ok if you are assigned to guns. Aim at the enemy boat, possibly at some of the enemy mobs, and spam the "1" button until your "HEAT" gauge located on the right fills up to about 85+, then hit 2. Rinse and repeat.

You will hear the opposite faction leader say something like "Get a mage out here", then your cannon will freeze.

Now you can either wait for a tank to jump over to the other ship via the rocket-shirt, and kill the mage freezing your guns. Or you can help kill mobs that have spawned on your ship.

And then? Rinse and repeat and you win its so boring. I like to use my Voidwalker here and use his Sacrifice shield to absorb gunshot wounds and mortar wounds.

Ok go loot the chest.

Truny's Warlock Tips: Lady Deathwhisper

Lady Deathwhisper aka Lady Lootwhisper is the second encounter in Icecrown Citadel. Yet again the lower spire consists of pretty brainless fights.

Quick and Dirty: She starts off with a mana-shield which mostly ranged dps will have to nuke down. When this shield wears off you can finally kill her via depleting her HP.

While her mana-shield is up, mobs will spawn on the sides of the room. In 25 man, this will be both sides, in 10 man this will be one side.

Warlocks: You are ranged DPS. Ranged DPS kill the FANATICS. Essentially when the mobs are about to spawn warning goes off I tab around and look for the letter F. Yes you can make a macro but come on don't be lazy.

I'm not sure what the other ones are as I don't pay attention to them.

When all the FANATICS are dead, go back to pew pew Deathwhisper's shield. Make sure not to kill the shield while mobs are spawning as this triggers phase 2!

Her Attacks: Throughout the mana-shield phase she'll spam shadowbolts onto random people. Use your shadow ward.

She will also cast Death and Decays on random areas of the room. They are HUGE and green. Stay the fuck out of them. Thanks.

Make sure that the raid times the mob waves and the demise of her mana-shield so you don't get messed up when transitioning to the second phase.

SECOND PHASE: When her mana-shield is depleted your tanks will pick her up. And now she will start casting frostbolts all over the damn place. Ignore them and keep pew pewing. She will also continue to cast death and decays. Dodge them and continue pew pewing. Watch your threat as she'll make tanks "insignificant", so save your soulshatter when your threat, and it probably will, sky-rocket to 75%+ really quickly.

Also, remember those little ghosties that spawn in Sunken Temple, or in one of the very annoying Auchinduon instances?

No? Well essentially these spirit/ghost thingers will spawn and randomly attack random people. You can't target them, and you can only run away from them.

If you see those and if they are floating towards you: RUN THE FUCK AWAY! They melee for around 15k and WILL kill you if you don't move away.

Think of it this way: If you don't move away and die, then your DPS sucks and if your dps sucks then your penis/vagina is small. Motivation enough for you? And your gearscore decreases by 500, which has certain negative implications. Whatever.

Ok go loot her.

Truny's Warlock Tips: Lord Marrowgar

Lord Marrowgar aka Marrowloots, is the first boss encounter in ICC. His difficulty level is akin to Koralon the Flame Watcher in Vault of Archavon. Essentially the mobs leading up to him are more difficult than the actual boss.

Why even bother posting "tips" on this guy? Well to satisfy my need for a sequential guide this boss just so happens to be the first "boss".

What this boss does: In short, he'll shoot straight lines of blue fire away from his body in any direction. Stay out of them. He'll also cast "Bone Spike Graveyard", which impales raid members and deals damage to them, KILL THESE ASAP OR YOUR FRIEND WILL DIE A PAINFUL IMPALED DEATH. Every so often he'll go spin around doing minor raid damage to everyone and shoot four lines of flame in four directions like an X. He'll stop doing this spinning and return to attacking the tanks.

What to look out for: Flames. Stay out of them. When he's not spinning, everyone but hunters should be standing in his hit-box so no one has to worry about getting flamed. The flames obviously start their trajectory from right outside of his hit box. When someone's impaled by his Bone Spike Graveyard, SWITCH TO KILL THE SPIKE NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR DPS ALSO THERE IS AN ACHIEVEMENT FOR KILLING THEM FAST. When he starts to spin around, if you have Destructive Reach you can first dot him back up then continue to spam your destruction spells. Side step to avoid any flame.

!!: When he stops spinning, he'll go back to shooting the single flames and casting his Bone Spike Graveyards. Your tanks will (hopefully) reposition him and now you make sure to watch where your pet is, because your pet will be attacking his ASS and that's where you want to be since he has a very painful frontal cleave. It's kind of hard to tell which is his face or which is his ass because he has so many faces/asses all made of bone!

His ass!

Now what? Uh, you won! Go loot him.

Truny's Outdated: Muradin's Spyglass

Yeah, it's taken me THIS long to actually win a roll on anything, and specifically this trinket. I am too lazy to open up wowhead and type in the htlm code so what this trinket does is:

Location: Loot Ship
Equip:+131 crit (2.85%)
Equip: Each time you deal spell damage you gain 18 spellpower, stacking up to ten times and lasts for ten seconds.

Essentially for warlocks this is a 131 crit, 180 spellpower trinket.

You gain a buff that looks like it would be gained from gathering herbs, it has a very herbal look to the icon (err), and it starts to stack the instant any of your spells deals damage to anything. Even critters. Even to yourself.

As long as you continue to deal damage, this buff will never fall off. It will continually be stuck at the ten/nine second mark.

Great job.

I finally replaced the Abyssal Rune. Poor thing. It had a nice chunk of haste and the 590 spellpower proc was nice. But having a constant 180 spellpower is more reliable. No internal cooldowns. Constant.

But the most important part of this post is that I actually ROLLED for this and won. By one point! WHAAAAT?

Ok what the hell?

So first of all how are warlocks supposed to solo level 83 bosses when they are the last person standing because of soul-link when we don't have:

A. Plate armor. What the hell?
B. Shields. Basic defense baby!
C. Self heals. I don't mean soulstones, but actual real heals like rejuv, and swiftmend. We have spell-power-magicks why can't we heal ourselves?
D. Multiple pets that can tank? Sure the felguard or blueberry can take a few hits but they don't wear plate, or have shields.
E. Insta-cast spells. Okay so we do have a few but they are not strong. What the hell is this?

I know I haven't been on lately, the most Truny has been doing is the [Something Magical Books Scattered Around Dalaran Read Them When They Spawn] achievement, I'd log in for 20 min, run around the city a few times. I've dumped running the "random" for frosties, no more use for frost badges how sad is that?

Gold? Klupty is having a lot of fun transmuting cardinal rubies, enough said. I did spend a majority of my fortune on a cape and a upgrade-your-t10-to-ilvl-264 thinger a few weeks ago but I'm already back up to about 6k.

Achievements? Well, I did become Horde Ambassador, currently working on Crusader? But, that's if I will myself to not log-off within being on for ten minutes. I was actually working on hitting Exalted with the Cenarion Circle in Silithus doing old school quests. I'm past honored and perhaps I shall fly back there one day.

Raids? Boring. I got my first actual 10k dps recording on a single boss fight but whoopdee doo it was only Festergut, teleporting in and out timing with the spores. And it was on a 25 person raid anyways not like it was a 100 person raid super hard mode. But still yeah don't mages do like 52k dps? Yeah no point, as long as we downed him and auctioned off his rather crappy loot.

And yeah ok bye.

Nibelung

Hello!

So
Nibelung, the staff that almost always drops off of Lady Lootwhisper. As a saavy caster what is the first thing you notice other than its On Equip effect?

It has no stats other than Spellpower!

The first time I saw this staff drop, I rolled on it casually, since losing my MH and OH items would be a huge hit in haste and HIT. It was then I got thinking "hmm, how useful are these fairies that get summoned?"

The second I saw it, I didn't roll for it.

The third time was in a GDKP. I bought it for 4,000 gold? Good deal! Maybe it was 3,500 I forget.

So this no stats thing. It's a solid hunk of ilvl 264 grade spellpower. It wasn't until I received a whole spattering of other upgrades, such as the ICC 25 rings and necklaces which boosted my haste and hit high enough that I don't care for it much more (I lie, I still like haste), this Staff really shines.

Why? Because the "Magical Angels of Smiting Goodness" (that's what I call them anyway) that spawn off of your spells are mighty fun and useful. It looks like they have a 2% chance to spawn on your cast of each damaging spell, and for each tick of your dots. Lifetap and other supplementary spells don't count of course.

Magical Angels of Smiting Goodness. These are also known as Valky'r Guardians. They have 12,500 health (right?) and deal a fast cast smite for 1,500 critting for 2,700 ish sometimes for 30 seconds.

For their time spawned, they will do 800-1000 dps. Or about 30k damage over 30 seconds. Sort of.

So if you engage in combat with a mob, and a Magical Angel of Smitey Death spawns at the same time and the mob dies in exactly 30 seconds your dps would be 800 higher.

In a raid overall of course, they will not boost your damage by 800 dps since they are not active all the time (which would be awesome).

This staff also makes solo'ing BC dungeons more interesting. My felguard will pull, and if an angel is up they will just two-beast/angel/valkyr/man/woman the mobs down while I wand of rain of fire to take credit for loot.

More than one can spawn. The most I have seen is 3 and it is completely random. Seeing two usually warrants that I am spamming Soul Seed (oh my god what is that spell called again?) or Rain of Fire. Having 3 is pretty snazzy as for that 30 seconds its +2400 dps. Again, given the entire fight lasts 30 seconds and they are all "used up".

I still remember WAY back when, looking up Lootwhisper's loot-table and going "Whoa, that staff is too pro for me". And I bought it with gold. How sad and or interesting is that? Well, not that I would ever, EVER win a roll but still. How odd.
