Aggrolicious Warlocks

Who knew that the Demonology spec could also draw aggro pretty fast with just one ability: Shadowbolt. (Let's not even mention Soulfire yet)

Here's a scenario:

Tank: "Ok let's do this!" They pull a group of mobs and I wait to attack the one they are targetting. Corruption, Immolate (If it's a High HP Mob), Shadow Bolt Spam until I see things proc left and right.

12k crit, nice. Threat 25%. 13k crit, nice. 55% threat "say what?", 11k crit, wow three in a row 85% threat, dots are ticking 90% threat *PAUSE*

There are two things I can do at this point.

1. Continue to attack because sometimes I am just too brain-dead or lazy to MOVE my mouse ALL the way over to my Soul Shatter button, or I am too lazy to stop pushing my buttons.

Result: 100% threat, mob is on me. Usually I am Decimating by now spamming Soulfire, it should be dead within 2 Soulfires. If it's a caster, I am good, if it's a melee type I can either: Soul Shatter NOW, or Go into Demonform and take some hits and use my Death Coil.

2. Soul Shatter. Only to regain threat on the next attack.

Result: 100% threat, mob is on me. Usually I am Decimating by now spamming Soulfire, it should be dead within 2 Soulfires. If it's a caster, I am good, if it's a melee type I can either: Soul Shatter is not an option so I go into Demonform and take some hits and use my Death Coil to self-heal.

Soulfire. I love this ability, it fires off a GIANT tumbling mass of brimstone surrounded by the Fires of Hell which goes "KAPOWBOOMKABOOM" when it lands on the mob every time it hits ..if you use your imagination!

You see, back in the Destruction days, the spell priority stayed the same and there weren't ANY procs or abilities to look out for, you'd just cast the SAME spells in the SAME manner from 100-0% regardless, if your threat went too high it was because of back to back crits or the tank got killed.

Now for Demonology, I only like to Metamorphasize during boss fights since....I am too lazy, trash die too fast, and I like to "save it" for role-play purposes to exaggerate the "now's the time mutha fu*kaaaaaaaas"...( T_T...)....and.......yeah...so..

Pulling aggro during THIS part of the fight is actually quite entertaining. I'd pop the Crit Trinket I found a while ago which increases crit by 900 then decays by 20% during Decimation and see those Soulfires have their fun. Sometimes I'm too lazy to pop the trinket since that button is too far away from my mouse to click.

If at this point of the battle everyone is thinking "Ok we got this, let's cool off a bit" the Demons are thinking "DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Aggro: 40% -- 65% -- 100% -- BOSS SMASH. Now we play the Luck Game, who dies first? I teleport back and continue Soulfire Spamming while the boss is running towards me...sometimes I die, sometimes the boss dies, all in fun and games!

Truny the Warlock

Death Knight Ass-Hattery

Take it as a social experiment or being completely random trying to mess with other people anonymously.

Say what? Yesterday, Klupty and DK friend embarked on a Death-Tard mission where we'd try to play as horribad as we could on our Death Knight while being equipped in all Spell Power gear or all cloth or all...everything with no strength.

I should have taken a screenshot of the two of them in their beautiful flowing Northrend Green Robes.

We queued as 2 DPS as that is the traditional role you would see Death Knights acting up. Ten minutes later our party is teleported into Heroic Nexus. Here is the party composition:

Tank: Pally, 5400 gear score 2.6k+ dps
Warlock: 5000+ gear score 3k+ dps
Shaman Heals: 3100+ gear score, mainly heroic blues and high level quest blues.
Klupty: 2000 Gearscore, all cloth and leather and mail, all spell power and spirit
DK Friend: 2000 Gearscore, all cloth and leather and mail, all spell power and spirit

We fell to incidental damage on the first Frozen Commander boss but our damage was actually VERY good considering all the cloth we had on, over 600-900 dps! If one were to judge correctly we weren't randomly pressing buttons (too randomly).

The tank and warlock left after the first boss was downed, without saying anything however. The healer remained behind for a bit and tried to give us some advice on the proper gearing required for heroics, which was a very nice gesture.

We requeued and the new party came in and we silently finished the instance. Oh so silently no one seemed to mind or notice that two death knights had on cloth or didn't want to be rude or were confused or...what? Did they know it was a dud? A coincidence two death knights from our server were just randomly crazy?

Perhaps! What did we want to see? Maybe someone freaking out and making a big commotion and then leaving. Nope, all silence. Not even a "why the fu*k are you guys in cloth gear?", or "Nice damage..". Is it that hard to get a group that can type nowadays?

So next time you see someone performing HORRIBLY or geared TOTALLY off, maybe...just maybe they're trying to mess with you!

On a side note to Mr 1,300 dps in Halls of Reflection, how did you get in?

Like a Moth to a Flame

I am on a mission. This involves (some heavy touching yeah -sorry Lady Gaga) getting Truny the Warlock to become my best geared character!

I did the quest to get the very nice
Quel'delar Lens of the Mind sword for her this weekend, sporting at 657 spellpower this sword is just awesomeness upgrade from Seethe. Poor Seethe, I spent so much time bitching about it not dropping, abandon the game and come back and upgrade it away. Sigh oh well, I've never actually SEEN the Sunwell so standing in the middle of it was kinda cool!

So before setting foot into Ice Crown Citadel Truny would like to be fairly upgraded in most of her equipment slots. I know it isn't necessary but I just like to be "appropriate" by Kluptomania standards.

Her Offhand Item is the Heroic Emblem Ward of the Violet Citadel. Since Shrivelled Heart is so accessible Truny has been running H HoR every day for a chance to get it, and also her belt and shoes are T8 equivalent, that's a no no gotta get it up to T9 at least.

ANYWAYS, yesterday in Halls of Reflection during one of the spirit waves I was dutifully corrupting and shadowbolting and decimating to my (shrivelled) heart's content when I guess what happened was every single positive buff and proc were active and one of my Soulfire's landed a 31.8k Crit!

I didn't have time to screenshot it since it just popped out of nowhere, and seeing 20k+ crits were so happenstance anyways I didn't have the same "OMG" reaction to these huge numbers anymore. I still remember when 4k was a BIG deal! (It still is!)

That's Crazy Sauce! I am thinking it must have been one of the mobs which I accidentally put Curse of Elements onto when I was about to hit my Soulfire button (they are beside each other in 5 man dungeons) and Molten Core, Lightweave Embroidery, Now is the Time, all procced and crit at the max possible amount?

I shall try to reproduce this again since Truny is in the limelight of playtime until all her upgrades are achieved RAWR.

Truny the Warlock Returns - Demonology

Truny has returned after an almost two month break!

From what I remember, the new changes to Demonologist Warlocks had already taken place but Truny didn't really check them out.

It's good!

A) Truny gets to use her favourite pet, the Felguard. Blagroon, the one who could dash cleave and save the squishy butts of the party!

B) Requirements for more awareness! MORE awareness! See, first we have to debuff things with our Improved Shadowbolt. Then we must make sure Corruption is always ticking since we are going to be fishing for Molten Core procs. What are those? Well Molten Core increases the damage and crit/speed for Incinerates or Soulfires. (Some may want to fire off Shadowbolts and only use Incinerate when Molten Core procs but I would rather see Incinerate).

C) Decimation. Remember when we had to go Shadow Bolt, Soulfire, Shadowbolt Soulfire. NOT ANYMORE! Now we can go Soulfire Soulfire Soulfire Soulfire and it looks something like this when you get a critting streak and various gear procs:

21,546 18,233 24,621! 9.264 (darn) 20,513 ...eep!

Remember to jump into Demon form and activate any trinkets when you see the first Decimation Proc, it's the magical buff that starts with a 9 second count. Also, remember to refresh Corruption to fish for Molten Core buffs to the Soulfires, and also to throw in a Shadowbolt to get the 5% extra crit!

This new system has a nice "Ok fuckers let's do this!" feel once you see Decimation it's all over!

Warlock's Guide - When Grouped with Overgeared'ers.

Every time I am on my Warlock I tend to get grouped with super overgeared people who actually know what the hell they are doing and hence we tend to see ROOMS of mobs and bosses alike pulled altogether and decimated to the ground within 10 seconds. Most of the runs my Warlock ends up in end in about 7 minutes. Half the time it took for me to actually queue.

We must adapt to these types of runs. To actually contribute something and not be bored while having your Incinerate cast cut off because there is no longer a need to cast something that takes 2 seconds since EVERYTHING is dead by then. And you are only targetting a single target.

Rain of Fire!

No, each tick of rain of fire takes TOO long to trigger. You know how it is. Cast Rain of Fire:

1...2...damage....1...2...damage.

Within that 1...2...damage....all gone. Hooray for your 400 dps for that fight!

I know it doesn't matter that your damage gets gimped but its no fun doing absolutely nothing for an entire instance. If I wanted to do absolutely nothing I would roll as Turny and either Tank while spamming Swipe or heal while refreshing my hots while I bake some scones.

Seed of Corruption.

It's a heavy mana drain, but the healer won't mind healing you once you tap that mana back since no one else is taking any damage. It has a quick cast time and can be cast on EVERYTHING AROUND YOU so essentially this is what happens:

SoC, switch, SoC, KABOOM, switch, SoC, SoC, KABOOM, KABOOM, rinse and repeat.

I tend to switch to my Demonology spec when doing this since my base crit is higher, base spellpower is higher, I have access to the Spell-Haste spell-gem or whatever the heck that conjured weapon oil is and also the Felguard can cleave some mean monsters.

In this day and age this baby crits for well over 5,500 and you can just imagine the havoc this can cause in even a group of 3 mobs!

And for the record, yes I do use gearscore but just on my own toons and that is just a measure to gauge my progress. Klupty the 3300 gearscore Dk can still pull a respectable 2k overall and upwards 3.3k and I HATE melee. Ok straying off topic BAI!
